Rice Krispie Treats
My favorite way to make these classic treats!
In a large pot or dutch oven pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Use a wooden spoon to help stir the butter occasionally.
As the butter melts, it will start to bubble. Watch the color so it doesn't get too dark, but you want to get the butter cooked. Once you smell the butter change, take the butter off the heat. Add in all but 2 cups of marshmallows, vanilla, and salt.
Put the pot back over the heat to stir the mixture (using a spatula or wooden spoon) until the marshmallows are completely melted and then remove from the heat again.
Add in your cereal, stirring carefully to combine the mixture.
After the cereal and marshmallows are mixed together, add in the remaining 2 cups of marshmallows. Stir a few times to mix them in, but they should not be fully melted.
Take a greased pan, and press the warm Rice Krispie mixture evenly in the pan. Let them cool, then cut and enjoy!
