Kelley Wilson Memorial BBQ Competition
During the weekend following Memorial Day, 56 teams gathered for the 8th annual Kelley Wilson Memorial BBQ Competition. The Kelley Wilson Memorial BBQ Competition was created to memorialize Kelley’s life, have FUN, and raise funds for his scholarship fund which is granted to a young man in financial need, who otherwise could not afford to attend Rockhurst High School.
Held in the Rockhurst High School parking lots, teams spend Friday and Saturday partying and cooking up a ton of awesome BBQ. With a number of first time teams competing, as well as a number of the top teams in the country, like Slap’s BBQ, creating a great competition atmosphere!
The 2019 competition went really well for The BBQ Mavens! The Mavens received our first call, with a 9th place in Chicken, even placing a spot ahead of Boomerang BBQ, who went on to get 1st place overall! With a 17th place overall finish, we had our highest overall finish yet! Visit our results page to check out all of our competition results!
We are looking forward to our next competition, and continuing to improve our performances across the board!
