One of my favorite hidden gems in Kansas City is Longboards! Longboards puts out great, fresh, and unique food, in a friendly environment that I have never been able to find anywhere else!
Their Story
Longboards is the Kansas City Wrap Shack. They love the surf lifestyle and the island state of mind, that’s why they make filling flavorful wraps and bowls with the best flavors of the Pacific coasts of Hawaii, California, Japan, China, Mexico, and beyond.
Gilbert (the founder) and his family grew up on the Pacific and brought with him the memories and experiences of his youth to the Midwest. Gilbert spent years working for some of the most interesting chefs in Kansas City, so Longboards is where island flavors and island style meet the KC food culture. Longboards wants you to be happy, welcome, and full every time you come in.
The Food
With 6 unique locations around the Kansas City area, Longboards is quickly becoming a local staple. Longboards menu has a wide variety of options. They serve hot and cold wraps, noodle bowls, and sliders along with awesome side dishes. Every single item that I have ever ordered here has been fresh and super tasty!
One of their signature wraps, the Cabo Beef, will be a surefire hit with everyone. The Cabo Beef is a chipotle wrap filled with grilled steak, guacamole, pepper jack cheese, pico de gallo, rice and chipotle ranch. I am also a big fan of the Spicy Krab wrap. This wrap is a chipotle wrap filled with imitation crab, peanuts, pepper jack cheese, rice, sriracha, and spicy Chinese sauce. It packs a little bit of a punch, but is nothing compared to 5-Alarm Steak wrap if you are into spicy food!
The menu also features an “OG” section. These wraps are twice the size of the grilled wraps and feature hardboiled egg mixed in with them. Be careful, as the OG’s are massive! I personally stick to the original sized wraps when I go! Also, they have daily specials at each of their locations, so be sure to check that out before you order!
