Grinders Pizza

With 2 locations in the Kansas City area, Stretch, of Food Network fame, has a unique spot for a great meal! With BBQ, wings, and of course pizza, Grinders has it all! There is something that everyone will enjoy in this one of a kind local gem! Grinders has appeared on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives four different times, and Guy and team describe the restaurant as: Sculptor-turned-pizza-slinger Stretch has brought his creative touch to Grinder’s. Hand-welded Army helmet lamps hang above the bar, which features a draft-beer tower made from an oxygen tank. As for the pizza menu, Stretch churns out creative pies like the Bengal Tiger, which is slicked with pesto sauce and studded with tandoori chicken, crabmeat and hearts of palm.
The Food and Drinks
The menu has awesome food anywhere you look. A personal favorite order when Maven Jessica and I visit is to start with an order of Buffalo Wings, and a cheesesteak with a side of tater tots for my main dish. You can get any one of 5 of their sauces on the wings, depending on the level of spiciness you enjoy, and the cheesesteak is as good as any I ate in Philadelphia! The 5 different flavors, in order of spiciness, are “Wimpy”, “BRW”, “Molten”, “Near Death”, and “Death Nectar”. I tend to stop around “BRW”, but Jessica is a huge fan of the “Near Death”!
Stretch does BBQ Competitions, on top of everything else he does. Because of this, the BBQ that makes it on his menu is going to be good! Be on the look out for specials that highlight some of his favorite BBQ!
Also, Grinders has a large Beer menu, with tons of local options. Adding a beer to your meal can be tough with all the options, but maybe save room for two or three to get what you like!
The Artwork and Concert Venue
On top of the awesome food, Stretch and Grinders are known for their eclectic style and art. All throughout their restaurant, there is unique artwork and a style that is uniquely Grinders. From old airplane chairs, to wacky paintings, there is something unique to see at every turn!
Also, outside of the downtown restaurant there is a huge outdoor concert venue! This venue allows for a great place to see live bands perform right downtown. I have been to many concerts here, and have always had a great time seeing bands perform here. To see a list of upcoming concerts check out their website!
