How to Stay Cool at Walt Disney World

If you are visiting Walt Disney World in Orlando anytime from April to October, odds are good it will be fairly hot and humid outside. There are tons of ways that you can try to stay cool, and below I highlight four of things I like to do.

Start early in the morning, and stay late at night

Taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours if you are staying on property is a huge help to beat the heat. Not only will it be less crowded during these times, meaning less waiting in lines, but the temperature will be cooler as well. The first few hours and the last few hours will be the easiest times to get attractions done, so you will be able to take advantage of the next tip!

Take a break in the middle of the day

If you’re staying on property, setting aside 3 or 4 hours in the middle of the day to head back to the hotel to take a nap or swim in the pool will be a lifesaver! It will take some time to ride the bus, boat, or monorail back to your hotel, so be sure you plan enough time for this with any dining reservations, Fastpass+ reservations, or anything else you might want to do in the parks.  This little break will be a lifesaver and will allow you to stick around the parks for the fireworks at night!

Walk through the shops

Disney parks are famous, or infamous, for having shops all around. These shops have tons of merchandise, but they also have air conditioning! When walking down Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom, you are able to walk all the way from one end to the other inside the shop, as it connects all the way. The same can be said for short cuts through Hollywood Studios shops on Hollywood Boulevard. At EPCOT, be sure to walk through Mouse Gear to get from one end of Future World to the other!

Find a bar or show

There are tons of great hidden bars around Disney property that are great ways to get out of the heat and sit down for a while. At the Animal Kingdom, my favorite place to hide away is at the Nomad Lounge, right outside of the entrance to Pandora. At EPCOT, there are a number of movies and little places to sneak away in World Showcase, my favorite being La Cava Del Tequilla in the Mexico Pavillion! At Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom, be sure to give the shows a chance! Carousel of Progress, The Country Bear Jamboree, Frozen Ever After, and The Cars Racing Academy will get you out of the sun for 15 minutes and give you some fun for the whole family!
