How to Simplify Holiday Meals

Everyone is always stressed around the holidays.  Family, Friends, and shopping can all cause added stress to our already chaotic lives.  If you are hosting for the holidays this year, try these tips during your Holiday meal prep!

Best Ways to Reduce Stress

  1. Set a Budget:  Go into your holidays with a plan, and stick to it.  This will eliminate the stress of feeling overwhelmed in the cost of the holidays!
  2. Prepare as much ahead of time as possible:  This could be salads, desserts, or snacks.  Ultimately, whatever can be made, and not on your day-of to-do list will help make your day less stressful!  Maybe try a no-bake peanut butter pie or some other easy to make desserts ahead of time!
  3. Delegate dishes to friends and family:  It doesn’t have to be a pot luck, but putting your brother in charge of fruit, your aunt in charge of pie, and your mom in charge of bringing the booze will make life way easier for you!  Plus, it makes sure people wont all show up with a pumpkin pie!
  4. Don’t go overboard on new dishes:  It might sound like fun to make a soufflé or some other dish you have never made before.  This, however, could result in chaos and stress.  Stick to what you know, and save the experimenting for a random Friday night with friends to prepare for next years Holidays!
  5. Set aside time for fun:  While the turkey, roast, or ham are cooking, get away from the kitchen and join the festivities!  If you’re always in the kitchen and not involved, it will feel a lot more stressful!

Of course everyone has their own ways to enjoy the holidays, and different ways to avoid stress.  What do you do in your home to prepare for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or one of the big family meals?!
