How To Revive Stale Bread
Freshly baked bread is one of my all-time favorite additions to a meal. Unfortunately, there are times when I buy bread and things happen causing us to not eat that bread when we planned. When a loaf of bread starts to get hard, you can always cut it up into stuffing or some other repurposed version of bread, but I prefer to revive the bread! Below are three options to bring new life into that stale loaf of bread!
- In the oven: Preheat your oven to 200° or a “warm” setting. Wrap the bread in a damp (not soaking) towel, and place it on a baking sheet. Let it cook it in the oven for 5-10 minutes wrapped in the towel, and it will come out softer!
- In the oven: Preheat your oven to 325°. Over a baking dish, pour water over your loaf of bread so that all parts of the bread are damp. Bake in the oven for around 8 minutes and the loaf of bread should be as fresh as a new loaf!
- In the microwave: Wrap the bread in a damp (not soaking) towel, and place it on a microwave-safe dish. Microwave the loaf on high for 10 seconds. The heat and moisture from the towel should give you a softer loaf of bread!
Give this tip a try the next time your bread gets stale, and be sure to let us know how it works for you! And remember, if your resuscitation attempt fails, there’s always a Panzanella salad, croutons, bread crumbs, and bread pudding which all work better with crusty bread!
